Handfasting Ceremony

Rooted in ancient Celtic tradition, Handfasting is a beautiful and symbolic way to celebrate your union. As your celebrant, I’ll work with you to craft a ceremony that honours these timeless rituals while reflecting your unique love story and connection to nature.
This ceremony celebrates the four elements – Air, Fire, Water, and Earth – and typically begins with the casting of a sacred circle, creating a special, protected space for your vows. Within this circle, your hands are gently bound together in a symbolic ‘tying of the knot’, a gesture rich in meaning and history.
You may choose to include other rituals such as lighting elemental candles, a water blessing, exchanging rings and personal promises, or even the joyful tradition of ‘jumping the broom’. Many couples also like to share mead and cake with their guests as part of the celebration.
While Handfasting is steeped in ancient wisdom, it’s also wonderfully flexible. Whether you're spiritual, nature-connected, or simply drawn to the ceremony’s symbolism, it can be shaped around your beliefs and values. Your story is central – the ceremony flows from your intentions and desires, with my role being to guide and weave it all together in a natural, unscripted way.
If you're looking for a heartfelt, meaningful ceremony that blends tradition with personal expression, a Handfasting could be the perfect choice for your special day.
